NYFW: Patrik Ervell SS18
Patrik Ervell is known for his use of unusual, high-tech fabrics. Based in New York, he chooses not to look for fabric overseas. He says that finding high quality materials in the US can be tricky, but not impossible.
When describing his brand, he describes it as romantic and soulful, yet rooted in reality. Ervell doesn't stray away from classic masculine silhouettes, as he believes his designs would lose their impact.
His collections do not make drastic shifts from season to season. Patrik doesn't believe in focusing on season trends, but more on the overall aesthetic of the designs.
It was apparent to notice his love for science fiction as it was incorporated into his work. The collection this year was full of color, lots of red, blue, purple, and bursts of yellow. There were quite a few jackets and lightweight trench coats, button up shirts and basic t-shirts with mandala designs on the front.
Even a few suits with loose-fitting trousers were in the collection. The majority of the items were paired with slick nylon trousers or shorts, but denim and gemstone colored fabrics were used throughout as well.
